Calgary Public Library

My First Bookshelf is a free program that sends personalized books every month to children birth to 5, from the time they register until the month of their fifth birthday. My First Bookshelf is made possible by the Imagination Library and donors of the Calgary Public Library Foundation.

The early years are vital to literacy development but many children face barriers to accessing the Library and it's many resources. Learn more here.

The program is currently full, there are limited spaces available. All new applicants will be added to a waitlist at this time.

We are accepting applications for families who:

1) Have a child or children under the age of 5

2) Live in the City of Calgary (all postal codes are now included)

*Please wait until your child has been born to apply. We do not accept applications for children who have not been born yet.

You can register for the program by:

1) Filling out a paper or fillable PDF application form (found below) and sending it by mail, scan or email to [email protected]

2) Visiting any library location in Calgary. Ask library staff to help you fill out and send in a paper or fillable PDF application form (found below)
