The Friends of the North Perth Public Library is a volunteer-led organization dedicated to promotion and fundraising in support of local library programs in Listowel, Atwood and Monkton. In 2023, the group identified three key pillars for its efforts:

  • Youth Literacy
  • Skills Literacy
  • Cultural Literacy

In 2024, the Friends of the North Perth Public Library voted to support Youth Literacy by offering Dolly Parton Imagination Library enrollment to children from birth until age 5.

With an estimated 1,200 children under 5 years of age living in North Perth, the Friends of the North Perth Public Library have set an ambitious fundraising target of $30,000 per year to ensure the long-term success of the local Imagination Library initiative. Local businesses, service clubs and individuals are encouraged to consider this important investment in the future of our community.

By getting free, high-quality books into the hands of more young children and integrating those resources with library and daycare programming, Friends of the NPPL hope to see steady improvement in youth literacy and long-term literacy rates in North Perth.
