Clayton County Foundation for the Future
Inspired by an anonymous donor, the Clayton County Foundation for the Future Board brought Dolly Parton's Imagination Library to Clayton County to promote early literacy in our communities. The Clayton County Imagination Library provides one high-quality, age-appropriate book per month to registered children living in districts served by Clayton County schools (Central, Clayton Ridge, Ed-Co, MFL MarMac, Starmont, Postville) from birth to age five at no cost to their families in an effort to:
- Promote early literacy and language skills, kindergarten readiness, and social emotional development
- Encourage and inspire family engagement as children and their caregivers discover the magic of reading together
We know that reading at grade level is a key predictor of school success and high school graduation. In addition, it is estimated that a typical middle-class child enters 1st grade with 1,000 to 1,700 hours of one-on-one picture book reading, compared with an average of just 25 hours for a child from a low-income family. This program will help get Clayton County children off to a bright start regardless of socio-economic status, with an early love of reading.
An enrolled child must be living with their parents or guardians at the address listed on the enrollment form. Enrollment requires consent from an authorized adult, so please let parents and guardians know of the program and share the link to this page to enroll!
